By using her mindfulness tools, I was able to assess my hunger/fullness cues and reign in my emotional eating. “When I decided I wanted to work with a nutritionist, I had a mindset of all or nothing. I either needed to have the perfect diet and exercise regimen or do nothing at all. I tried many fad diets like medifast and keto. I wanted to see results quickly and only cared about numbers.I remember at one point, I was constantly snacking throughout my day and could not go 2 hours without putting something in my mouth. “I came to Voula because I experienced sudden weight gain and was feeling lightheaded and weak at certain times of the day. It worried me that I’d be in a situation where I’d feel lightheaded/ill but would still have to walk/bike home. It made it difficult to enjoy outdoor physical activity like biking or hikes because I would worry that I might start feeling unwell.
Voula helped me better plan out my meals and make snacks and meals more balanced. The food I was eating wasn’t timed well, so I would run out of “fuel” and feel lightheaded. By better planning, I’m more confident going on hikes or long bike rides because I know I’ll feel strong enough to do so. This was a huge improvement to my wellbeing and reduced so much stress.
